Trek to Gokyo lake and Gokyo Ri – Day 3

Khumjung Village and Majestic Mount Ama Dablam

Day 3 , 17th November 2018.

We planned to stay at Namche for acclimatization to avoid mountain sickness. So, we planned to go around Namche Bazar. After having our breakfast at hotel, we went to museum. It was an informative tour for me as there were lots of things to see. We came to know about the history of Namche, Khunde and Khumjung village and how few people worked to save the environment and develop the Namche . The pictures there showed how the glaciers have changed in last few decades.

After visiting Museum, we went to Everest view point which is 300 meter up from Namche. The uphill was challenging. After an hour walk we reach Syangboche aiport. From this place the walking route was not that hard. We easily reach at a hotel at the top from where we could see Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m), Ama Dablam (6,812m). We stayed there for an hour and had our lunch.

After having lunch, Ajay wanted to return back to Namche. He was like “ I am done, I will stay at Namche and you guy go to gokyo tomorrow”. Me and Dil planned to go Khumjung and Khunde. I had plan to visit Kunde Hospital and meet Dr. Kami as he had already visited my clinic Orthopedica when he was in Kathmandu.

Khumjung was downhill from the view point. Had a wonderful view of Amadablam on the way. On the way we can see Sir Edmund Hillary school, at places People were working on the fields.

From khumjung we walk toward Khunde. We went to Khunde Hospital, since it was Saturday I could not meet Dr. Kami .

There was a Garden at the hospital in the name of Mr. Zeke o’Connor.I have met Mr. Zeke as he also had visited my center few years back. He is founderof Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation Canada.

On the way back to Namche, we went to a tea house and had potato bread.

From Khunde we came to Syangboche and downhill to Namche.

As we reach Namche, we met Mr. Ajay on the way who was walking with few of fellow trekker we met on the way at Phakding.

These trekker convince him that he should give it a try to Gokyorather and returning back from Namche. Thanks to these people who encourageAjay. He was mentally ready for next day walk.
