Pokhara is the number one tourist destination in Nepal. It has many amazing mesmerizing places to enjoy. Surroundings of Pokhara is also equally beautiful. It has many villages around which gives you close view to Mountains.

Pokhara is also a gateway for Annapurna round circuit trekking and Annapurna base camp trekking. They have added a new destination now, Mardi Himal base camp trekking.

Dhampus is one of the stops to start your trekking to Annapurna Base camp or Mardi Himal base camp (There are alternative route too). Till few years, it was a few hours trek to reach dhampus but in recent times there is an off road track to reach Dhampus.

This time I was in Pokhara for a family visit and I want to make a short trek. Due to time constrains, I was not able to make a trek so I had a plan just to visit a nearby place just to capture some beautiful landscape.

Dhampus, the name was always in my mind. I have heard that from there I can capture the beautiful landscape. On enquiring with my nephew, I came to know I can reach there by motorbike in one hour. So I planned to reach there early morning to capture sunrise and the early rays of the sun over Dhaulagiri, Fishtail and Annapurna mountains.

I started my trip to Dhampus with my nephew at 5 am. It was fun to travel on the motor bike early morning (more info here about bikes here). It was still dark, as we started to off-road up the hill, we saw few early rays of the sun. View of Pokhara valley from a few points on the way were just amazing. Around 6 am we reach at Dhampus and it was a perfect time. The sun was just about to rise and you could feel the environment turning orange. After spending some time there, we walked up the hill towards the Australian base camp, which is 30 min walk from dhampus. It is another place where you can see the beautiful landscape of the mountains. It’s a place where you can spend a night and have a fresh air away from sound pollution. Here are some picture from this trip.
