Sunrise View

Pokhara, my maternal city—ever since I visited this place, the hill to the northeast, visible from my uncle’s house, has always fascinated me. It is called Kahun Danda. The white tower seen from the rooftop always made me wonder how they managed to build it up there.
After reaching Kahun Danda, I learned that the tower is called Kahun Darahara (View Tower) and was built in 2026 B.S. (1969/70 A.D.).
I had always wanted to visit this place since childhood but never got the chance.

It’s been quite a while since I have done any nature photography. This weekend called up a few friends to join me for an early morning photography trip to a hill in the west of Kathmandu known as Dahachok.

This hill area is famous for Kalu Pande samadhi. Kalu Pande is a great warrior of the Gorkha arm who fought for the Gorkha royals who were fighting with the neighboring state for expansion which led to the current borders of the Nepal kingdom.

It has been 20 years since I first witness the South Asian Games in Kathmandu. I Still have good memory of that event. I had made a 15 feet long Nepal’s Flag which I carried in every football match Nepal played. I wish I still had that flag but during the Royal Massacre my mom gave that flag to the crowd during the riots that held in Kathmandu.

Majestic Mount Ama Dablam

Day 4, 18th November 2018

Our trek towards Gokyo started from Namche at 8 in the morning. We packed few of our unwanted cloths in a bag and left it at hotel. Looking at Mr. Ajay condition yesterday, we were not sure if he can manage to walk for hours. Still we planned to stay at Dole today which is situated at 4230 meters.

Walking trails from Namche till Kyangjuma was wide enough to walk and nicely paved, thorough the trail we could see the beauty Mount Ama Dablam. It took almost 2 hours to reach Kyangjuma where we had tea and took short break. When returning back I made up my mind that I will stay here to do my night photography.

kotdanda, nepal, manaslu, himalaya, kathmandu

Kotdanda is a hilltop south of Kathmandu valley. Famous Bisankhunaryan temple resides in this hill. I had been to this place 10 years back.

After visiting this place today, I felt lots of changes there. The first thing I observed is, there is a good road access to reach the place, the old houses were damaged by the earthquake in 2015, so lots of new concrete houses are constructed. Before, I didn’t see any tourism promoting activities, but the night now they have an homestay system so that people can visit the place and spend some time.

Bhaktapur renovating

Materials used for renovation of a temple near durbar square main entrance

Bhaktapur city is like a museum city for me. It’s a living heritage for me.
One of the things that impressed me the most about this trip was a huge pet store that was very nice and had all kinds of animals but this store in particular was very famous for having the best snake terrarium it was very big and very beautiful even I was tempted to buy one and bring some pets, but we know that was not possible. However, the store was what I liked the most about this trip.
Bhaktapur durbar square is listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Many monuments were damage by the earthquake of 2015. After 2 years some renovation process is going on, hope the city will get it’s old look soon. I am sharing some of the picture capture during this visit.
