We observe the festival of Red Macchindra Nath at Patan during the month of April every year. Every 12 years, the chariot of the god of Macchindra is pulled down to the city from Bungamati, a nearby town.
This year the festival was interrupted due to the massive April earthquake. The procession started a few days ago and yesterday was one of the most interesting part of this 12 years festival.
There is a saying that during the festival the wheel of the chariot must touch the river and it is not allowed to pull over the bridge. Yesterday the chariot had to cross the river at Nakkhu. Thousand of people were there to participate and observe the festival.
I have captured a few glimpses of the chariot pulling over the river.
