Nawami day of Dashai is the time many people in Kathmandu visit Taleju Bhawani situated inside Basantapur Durbar. This is the day when this temple is open whole day for public to worship. Today I wanted to capture some night shots of this temple and around Basantapur. Here are some picture which I took so that many my friends who are abroad and missing Dashai.
The city of Ayutthaya was founded in 1350 by King U Thong and it was named after the city of Ayodhya in India where Lord Ram of the Hindu epic “Ramayan” was born. It is a World Heritage Site.
Before going there I had seen few images from this ruined city with Lord Buddha statue without head. After visiting this place, it was not just about Buddha’s statue, there were many site which were destroyed in the war with Burma (now Myanmar) in 1767. The story of destruction of this city reminded me of the biggest statue of Buddha in Afghanistan which was bombed, rocked and destroyed by the Taliban.
After a long time, I got an opportunity to watch Nepal’s National Team football. This time in my opinion Nepal faced a strong team. It is a team who played 2010 FIFA world cup in South Africa and they recently got back from Asia Cup 2010.
I thought Nepal will try their best effort to not to concede many goals as they have been doing it in past with strong teams of Asia. This time my thoughts went all wrong. They showed the Nepali fans that they are capable of playing a good game.
I have always dreamed of taking picture of fireworks, and finally i could take some on Thailand’s King birthday celebration. Don’t know how perfect are they technically but at least i could capture some fireworks over the sky. I used 10-24 mm lens and capture from 24 mm and to post here I cropped it. you may see some full size image on my Facebook.
It is the participation of people which preserves the culture, and in this run public of Patan are ahead. Kartik Naach is one of Patan’s unique culture. This is a performing artwhich contains some moral stories and Hindu stories and traditional music. It had begun from 12th November 2010. This festival will be celebrated till 19th November 2010. This year I am going to miss the last day of the show.
Taking pictures of Nhudaya Bhintuna rally is always a fun. This year I tried to capture the moments with my New Nikkor lens 10-24 mm. I took some picture during the rally and later at night in the Basantapur area. The rally shows the rich culture of Kathmandu valley and the Newar community of this valley.
Erawan museum is named after the three headed elephant Airawata. This is one of the private museums own by Viriyapant’s family. It has a collection of antiques as a contribution to Thai culture and heritage. This museum is located in Bangkok, Thailand.
