What is polymer note?
“Polymer banknotes were developed by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and were first issued as currency in Australia in 1988. These banknotes are made from the polymer biaxially-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) which greatly enhances durability of the banknotes. Polymer banknotes also incorporate many security features not available to paper banknotes, making counterfeiting much more difficult.” – From wikipedia.org
A Rs. 10 Polymer Note
In February 2002, for the first time in Nepal’s history, Nepal Rastra Bank (Central Bank of Nepal) issued a 10 rupee polymer banknote. We were pretty much excited to see how a polymer note looks like. As the time passed by there were many issue regarding such kind of notes.
I was asked by my friend Ashish Thapa to read this news on BBC. It was about Food shortages grow in rural Nepal. How many of us are aware of this news?
I was really surprised to read the headline of the news. Many things ran in my mind, asked myself many question.
What! Food Shortage in Nepal? Can this happen in my Country? How can this happen?
I don’t want to ask this question. Can you guys imagine that RNAC flight was cancel due to no Passenger? I think everyone has thought it can happen in near future, but I guess no one thought while it is celebrating its 50th year of service and the very next day it celebrated its birthday, it will have to a face such a situation.
So many international Airlines are operating in Nepal, many more to come in near future but our own airline is facing loss. Poor service, not enough plane and delayed flights are the major problem of our airline company. Since last year there have been improvement in arrival of tourist but still NAC or RNAC has to cancel it’s flight due to no passenger.
Since the massive use of internet in Nepal, for past few years we have seen many Entertainment website in Nepal. These entertainment website have proved itself as a good platform for uprising stars in entertainment field.
Especially for the female model, it has been a god’s gift. Many established model came through internet magazine like cybersansar.com, netnasha.com, thikthak.com, clickdharan.com, butwalcity.com, parichaya.com few to name.
If we see the history of Nepali modeling field or entertainment market, I remember Dolly Gurung, who’s “Wai Wai” advertisement 2 decade ago was a massive hit on Nepal Television, I have a vivid image of that advertisement. I think she was wearing short skirt.
It was one of the great moments in the history of Nepali sports. Nepal’s cricket teams bowler Mahaboob Alam took all the 10 wickets ongoing ICC World Cricket League against Mozambique. This tournament is road to 2011 ICC cricket world cup.
Today was the first day of the festival of Rato Macchindranath. I saw the chariot pulling for the first time, and it was a great experience for me. I enjoyed seeing the people participation in such festivals. Young guys were excited to grab the rope and pull the chariot.
It seems like soon we will have nothing to be proud of being a Nepali. We are losing our Identity, the identity of Nepal and being a Nepali, the Culture of our Nepal and the traditions.
Lumbini, birth place of lord Buddha
Let’s talk about Lumbini, it is a birthplace of Lord Buddha and it lies in Nepal now. UNESCO has already listed it in its World Heritage Site, but we still hear from the Indian side that Buddha was born in India, and they have named the place with the same name just other side of the boarder. What does this means? They are not afraid to say that Buddha was born in India, I heard from my friend who studied in south India that there they are taught that Buddha was born in India and Nepal is a part of India, I have no idea how much truth is there in it, but that is what we have been hearing. They used to have fight with their Indian friends on this issue. As a proof we can take the issue of Indian movie star Mrs. Madhuri Dixit. When she arrived in Nepal few years back, she said that she thought Nepal is a part of India or similar kind of statement which drew a big attention in Nepal.
