In Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu has 10 different avatar and one of them is of Narsingha.
The musical play which is played at Patan Durbar Square every year features the story of Pralad, Hiranyakaishapu and Narsingha avatar. This musical dance show is more than 300 years old and still the local people of Patan have preserved it and perform this every year.
Once or in a couple of months’ time I go out with my friends and camera for photography. We try to explore new places each time. Sometimes we reach to some photogenic places and sometime we just have to get back empty hand. This time one of our friends suggested us to go Ravi Opi village which is situated north of Chandeshwori Temple, Banepa. Half the way to this place is paved and half is offroad.
Kartik Naach, a musical dance festival which is played at Mangal bazar dabali, of the Patan Durbar Square, every year. This year the festival will last for 12 days. These picture are from the 5th day of the festival.
Every year Newar community from different places of Nepal celebrated the Nepal sambat . I haven’t got the chance to see the rally form other city but I manage to go to Basantapur at Kathmandu to observe this rally. This year I manage to capture some portraits
For the past few years, long festivals in Kathmandu valley started allocating a day just for girls. There is a special day where only girls pull the Red Macchindra Charoit. Similarly during Indra Jatra too there is one day allocated for girls to pull the chariot of Kumari, Ganesh and Bhairab.
It’s been a wonderful month of May 2016 for me. 2nd week of the month, I went to Tilicho lake and just after returning from there, got an opportunity to go to Heaven on earth, Rara Lake.
Rara Lake is situated at the far west of Nepal. It is one of the deprived areas of Nepal with beautiful landscape. Under Karnali zone, there are many beautiful places to explore and Rara Lake is one of them. At the heart of the Mugu District, it’s a 2 hour walk from the Talcha Airport. Since roads are constructed, there are many options to reach this beautiful place now.
A destination many imagine to reach but only a few make it. Tilicho lake is situated at 4919 meters above the sea level under Annapurna range at the Himalayas. It is situated at Manang district of Nepal. It was one of my to-do list for years.
This year I had my friends coming back home from Australia for their vacation. It’s been years that I have not met them. To make this meet a memorable one, we planned to trek. We had few options like Annapurna Base Camp, Gokyo Re and Tilicho Lake. As I have already been to Annapurna Base camp, and due to time constraints for Gokyo Re, we planned to go to Tilicho lake.
On 10th may 2016, we headed towards Besi Sahar, small town from where the trek for the Annapurna circuit starts. One of our friend who has had a problem riding a bus, because of vehicle sickness took his motorbike for this trip. While going to besi sahar, in the bus we met few people who were also going for the same trek, as we talked to the driver of the bus, we came to know that now a days there has been an off road track has been open till Khangsar village. Mahindra’s bolero pickup van are doing up and down every day carrying people and goods and making people life easy on these remote area.
I support Local Empowerment. So, I’m sharing this Everest Base Camp Trek to promote a new way of trekking where trekkers can empower the local service providers like lodges, guides and porters by booking services directly through them. #empoweringthehimalayas #freetriptoeverest
