Macro photography always attracted me. Since I didn’t had a macro lens, I am not able to explore this section of photography. A year ago I had chance to use one of my friends macro lens in botanical garden at Godawari. It was fun to use it for the first time.

This time I saw some flowers blooming in my garden, so once again i borrowed his lens to try some macro shot of some flower. Here are some picture i took.

Chariot of Kumari, Lakhe and Pulukisi

Nepal is still in pain as it tries to heal the wounds after the devastating earthquake. Amidst the aftershocks, there are old houses which are standing with support in the aisle of Kathmandu. Indra Jatra is a festival which is celebrated by pulling the chariot of lord Ganesh, Bhairav and Kumari in these aisle.

Macchindra chariot at Nakkhu

We observe the festival of Red Macchindra Nath at Patan during the month of April every year. Every 12 years, the chariot of the god of Macchindra is pulled down to the city from Bungamati, a nearby town.

This year the festival was interrupted due to the massive April earthquake. The procession started a few days ago and yesterday was one of the most interesting part of this 12 years festival.

Gai Jatra festival in Bhaktapur

Gai Jatra is the festival to commemorate the death of the people during the year. The festival mostly is celebrated by the Newar community. It is one of the biggest festival of Kathmandu valley. All the three major cities of Kathmandu have it’s own way of celebrating this festival. This year I went to Bhaktapur to see the festival, it’s a different than the one I have been used to see at Basantapur Durbar Square, Kathmandu.

Untill when it will be kept like this

After the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on 25th April, many people formed groups visiting quake hit areas and villages providing relief materials. Most of these groups were distributing tents for shelter and foods for the earthquake victims.

At the same time, we too had a group of friends from the field photography, both professionals and some as a hobbyist brought together by Ajay Rana Bhat. After seeing some badly hit towns like Bungamati and Shakhu, we decided to go there to make aware about sanitation and health issues while they are staying at tents. They named their group “Desh lai hamro khaacho cha” (The country needs us).

Roopai ashar 15 nepal dhanding chattre deurali

As the monsoon arrives, most of the farmers get bussy for the preparation for the roopai (rice plantation). In Nepal Ashar 15 is celebrated as the day for rice plantation, it is also popularly known as dahi chiura khane din (yogurt and beaten rice eating day).
The fun part of this festival is that all family members and neighbors get together to help in the plantation of rice for each other’s fields. It shows the unity among the people and how they help each other’s is good and bad times.
