Living Goddess Kumari

Festivals are always with colors, smile and fun. Nepal is a country with lots of festivals and Indra Jatra is one of the main festival from Kathmandu valley. It had a long history with bitter truth, but still people celebrate this big festival and try to forget about that bitter truth. It’s the biggest day for the people of Thimi

The 2nd day of Thimi’s bisket jatra starts early morning. It’s fun to be watch locals carrying the god’s chariot on their shoulders. Whole Thimi’s street turns into orange on this day. It’s a hard work to take pictures in such crowd where the road is small and lots of colour powder are flying.

I capture some moments in my camera, hope it will make you feel that you were at Thimi to celebrate this festival.

I went to Basantapur to capture some moments at day and night time. This is a world heritage site, we have five story palace, Taleju Bhawani Temple, Kumari Ghaar and Hanuman Dhoka. Hippie era’s famous freak street also lies around this area.

While Taking picture at night, I felt something was missing here. This is a world heritage site and we can attract lots of tourist here at night too but that time I did not find a single tourist around.

I wish if the concerns authority of  Basantapur Durbar square do something to promote tourist activities at night in this area. I was visualizing how would the Taleju Bhawani Temple and Nine Story Palace looks if they use some Flood lights there, or use some focus light at Gaddi Baithak.
