Materials used for renovation of a temple near durbar square main entrance
Bhaktapur city is like a museum city for me. It’s a living heritage for me.
One of the things that impressed me the most about this trip was a huge pet store that was very nice and had all kinds of animals but this store in particular was very famous for having the best snake terrarium it was very big and very beautiful even I was tempted to buy one and bring some pets, but we know that was not possible. However, the store was what I liked the most about this trip.
Bhaktapur durbar square is listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Many monuments were damage by the earthquake of 2015. After 2 years some renovation process is going on, hope the city will get it’s old look soon. I am sharing some of the picture capture during this visit.
This week Photowalk Nepal selected Bouddhanath as their photowalk destination. The theme of this week photowalk was Night Photography. Since I had already capture the night photograph of this place last week, I tried to capture some of the picture before the dusk.
In my previous post I did post some picture of Bouddha Stupa taken at night, in this post you can see picture taken at evening. hope you will enjoy watching them.
Pashupatinath Temple is one of the sacred hindu pilgrimage. During the festival of Teej and Shivaratri thousands of devotee visit the temple. There is a saying in nepali “Nazik ko deuta lai hela” meaning you ignore the nearest god. So, being a guy from Kathmandu, I hardly visit this Shiva devoted temple, may be once in year. I usually go there on Shivaratri day to capture the portraits of Babaji.
Today was the last day of Indra Jatra. I wanted to take some picture of girls day of Indra Jatra, which happens to be on 3rd day which came to know today. I got wrong information that today was girls day. It would have been fun capturing all these crazy girls trying reach the pipe that’s coming out from the Swet Bhairav mouth to get the taste of drinks which will make them more crazy.
Festivals are always with colors, smile and fun. Nepal is a country with lots of festivals and Indra Jatra is one of the main festival from Kathmandu valley. It had a long history with bitter truth, but still people celebrate this big festival and try to forget about that bitter truth. This was the day when the Kingdom of Kathmandu was anxed to Gorkha Kingdom by King Prithivi Naryan Shah.
The 2nd day of Thimi’s bisket jatra starts early morning. It’s fun to be watch locals carrying the god’s chariot on their shoulders. Whole Thimi’s street turns into orange on this day. It’s a hard work to take pictures in such crowd where the road is small and lots of colour powder are flying.
I capture some moments in my camera, hope it will make you feel that you were at Thimi to celebrate this festival.
Here goes one of the many chariots we see on the day
I support Local Empowerment. So, I’m sharing this Everest Base Camp Trek to promote a new way of trekking where trekkers can empower the local service providers like lodges, guides and porters by booking services directly through them. #empoweringthehimalayas #freetriptoeverest
