Living Goddess Kumari

Festivals are always with colors, smile and fun. Nepal is a country with lots of festivals and Indra Jatra is one of the main festival from Kathmandu valley. It had a long history with bitter truth, but still people celebrate this big festival and try to forget about that bitter truth. This was the day when the Kingdom of Kathmandu was anxed to Gorkha Kingdom by King Prithivi Naryan Shah.

I was amazed by this shot – a spider hanging by the web

I always wanted to have some macro photography. Due to lack of macro lens I could not get the desired macro shots from the tele lens that I have. Today we went to Godawari Botanical Garden for Photo Walk with macro theme. Many thanks for Mr. Om Yadav dai for making this theme possible today. Om dai is the person who is initiating weekly Photo Walk program among enthusiast photographers in the Kathmandu valley.

I used my 80-200 mm lens but was not satisfied with the macro shots I was shooting from it. Finally after my friend Mr. Samir Pradhananga who finished shooting his macro shots let me borrowed his 90 mm macro lens.

As I start taking the shots (took only few shots as we were in hurry to return back home) I was telling myself wow to every shot that I took from that lens. I think I will get addicted to macro photography soon and I need to get one macro lens soon. Time to save some money to get macro lens.

The Asian one horned rhino at Royal Chitwan National Park
The one-horned rhino – Identity of Royal Chitwan National Park

Nepal is a land of wonder. East, west, north or south everywhere we go around this country we will find many things to be amazed of. Either it is by its natural beauty or festival and culture of each ethnic groups. Nepal has flat sea level lands to high mountains of Himalaya Range.  Extreme hot weather to chilling cold temperature. I am in a mission to visit at least some of the most amazing places in Nepal and luckily this time I got an opportunity to visit one of the best natural place in Nepal, the “Royal Chitwan National Park”. The park where endangered wildlife like Tiger, the Asian one-horned Rhino and Ghariyal crocodile are conserved.

World Heritage site - Boudha Nath StupaBoudha Nath Stupa

I always wanted to have some evening shots of Boudha Nath Stupa. It is one of the World Heritage Site listed by UNESCO. This year on the day of Buddha Jayanti i got this opportunity. Me and my friends Mr. Rukesh Shrestha, Mr. Samir Pradhananga and Mr. Pritush Maharjan were lucky enough to get the perfect place to capture some moments. I would like to thank the person from Sakura Restaurant who allowed us to go to their rooftop so that we can take some shots. It’s really sad that the potential tourist destination like Boudha have time limit for the visitors and devotees to spend time on the stupa, as they were asked to leave the stupa premises after 8 p.m. Me and Samir had some concept to take the picture from the inside premises of the stupa but we could not do it due to this rule. Hope some day we go again and request the guards to get our dream shot.

Picture Sent for Competition

I am one of the enthusiast photographer who frequently roam around places and take pictures and post them in social networking sites to get people’s view on my photography. I always wished if I can earn some money from it or at least it get published in some newspapers or website.
I have seen few of my photographs being used in different site and shared in Facebook by different users. Some asked for permission from me by contacting me personally, some just gave credit to me and I found some erasing my watermark and using it.

Bisket Jatra festival in Thimi
It’s the biggest day for the people of Thimi

The 2nd day of Thimi’s bisket jatra starts early morning. It’s fun to be watch locals carrying the god’s chariot on their shoulders. Whole Thimi’s street turns into orange on this day. It’s a hard work to take pictures in such crowd where the road is small and lots of colour powder are flying.

I capture some moments in my camera, hope it will make you feel that you were at Thimi to celebrate this festival.

Here goes one of the many chariots we see on the day
